A Shiba Inu dog captured the hearts of local shoppers as she patiently waits in front of a department store while her owner is inside. Rin, a 4-year-old Japanese hunting dog, has become the darling of local shoppers.
Rin and her owner Saburo Kawamura, 70, a resident of the western Japanese city of Yamaguchi, go for a walk every day together. Four years ago, Kawamura fell in love with Rin at a local pet shop. He said that the puppy looked like the pet dog he once had.
According to Kawamura, Rin is a soothing presence, and he enjoys going for walks and drives with her. When Kawamura asks Rin to wait for him in front of the Yamaguchi Izutsuya department store before he enters the shop, the pup dutifully sits tight. Rin still looked calm and relaxed even when surrounding people gives her prods and pets.
According to Soka Akashi, 16, a first-year high school student who happened to pass by, Rin is a cute dog. She didn’t pull back when three or four people gathered and took a picture with her, Akashi added.
Tsutae Horiyama, 86, a local housewife who often sees Rin, smiled and said that she’s gentle and smart.
Kawamura said that people adore Rin because she is kind and mild.
The bond between Kawamura and Rin is beautiful. Other than that, Rin’s presence in the department store is an excellent example of the impact of a pet to local communities. With the growing rate of people with social isolation and mental health issues, pets are very therapeutic in reminding us that we are not alone.
Dogs can break the ice between strangers. They are great social levelers, as any person from different races and all ages can feel that they have something in common.
